How to Treat Lyme disease


Lyme disease is an infection caused by Borelli Burgdorferi bacteria. It enters human body by bite of infected deer tick. These tick takes 24 hours to make the human body infected. The symptoms of Lyme disease in early stage is “bull’s-eye” rashes on skin and these rashes are red in the center and they increases with time. Most of the time these rashes are not painful and there is no itching but still they are warm when you will touch it.
Symptoms and diagnoses:
If not taken care properly on time, patient will face severe health problem in the second stage of the disease. Patient will face problems like fever, fatigue, headaches, body aches and many more thing. So proper attention and treatment is required in first stage only. It is necessary to diagnosed it in the first stage, doctor recommends blood test, PCR and western blot test to diagnose it.
How to treat Lyme disease?
It is necessary to treat it in the first stage only, because it is easy to cure in first stage only. It takes around two to three weeks to cure it, it is a course of oral antibiotics. All of the traces can be easily removed in these three weeks.
Oral antibiotics:
Medicines which are recommended for treatment are:
·         Doxycycline for patients whose age is more than 8 years.
·         Cefuroxime and amoxicillin for younger children and ladies who are breast feeding their children.
The course of these medicines goes for 21 days for making the patient completely fit and it removes the infection completely. This is the standard treatment procedure for the first stage of the infection.
Intravenous antibiotics
It is treated with intravenous antibiotics and the treatment goes for two weeks to four weeks. As this infection involves nervous system hence doctors recommend intravenous antibiotics. But there are some side effects of it, in some patients it is observed that in some patients white blood cells count came down, some suffered from diarrhea or some small infections like cough and cold.
Sometimes after getting rid of this infection, patient face post treatment Lyme disease syndrome, in which they face muscles aches or fatigues, but chances are very less. So it is very necessary to take proper care during treatment to avoid such after treatment problem.
Some doctors also recommend Bismacine, but FDA warns against usage of it. It is an injectable medicine which is recommended by some of the practitioners to treat this disease, although it is recommended for some oral disease but it is not approved by FDA for Lyme disease.
It is recommended to take proper care during this infection and family members should take proper care of the patient. Only medicines are not sufficient, proper care is also necessary. It is very important to understand the symptoms in the first stage only and consult the doctor as soon as it is possible because it is easy to cure in the first stage and even patient will face less problems if it is cured in the first stage.
